Passing Down the Knowledge

What are these dogs doing? Why they are truffling, of course! Huh?

No, this isn't France or Italy kind of truffles, these are what I call the Twaalfacker truffle. (Twaalfacker is Africaner for Twelve Oaks) These little morsels of fungi grow just beneath the grass and they are best in the months of December, January and early February when it's cold and wet.

The important part is my dogs LOVE THEM and pass down the art of truffling to the new generation.
Puppies pick this up fast. They investigate what the adults are doing by sniffing with them and learn the scent fast..

Here they are learning from the best...Diva...who's not sharing hers with anybody!

Here's Prize finding her own....Lesson learned.

About This Blog

Originally, this was a place to tell you my news. Then I got a new camera and it became a way to see how we live here at Kalahari Rhodesian Ridgebacks - the fun things, the everyday things and even the humdrum things.

It's just home. I'm glad you stopped by and come again!
