Backyard Banquet

Our evenings walkabouts start out to the left. When the dogs reach the first corner they have to tussle a bit with one another, jump and cavort and generally get themselves revved up ..... sort of like a runner doing their stretches, except they are much more boisterous. Sizzle is letting Guy know that she's still his Momma and she can still "whip" him - so behave!

Then they all tear off at a hundred miles an hour and veer off to the pear tree and proceed to help themselves to any goodies on the ground or by jumping up and picking themselves one to eat.
Meanwhile, I'm still plodding around the perimeter while they are eating....when I reach the back of the property, they come flying over to check and see if there's a squirrel about as that's a prime area for the fuzzy tailed rodents. That done, they proceed to eat Huckleberries....My own Huckleberry Hound Dogs.
I continue my lap while they enjoy this little berry nosh.... as I reach the area of the muscadine vines, here they come full till as this is another prime squirrel territory. If all's well, they trot over to yet another tasting opportunity...the fig tree and help themselves.
After I took this photo, I thought back to earlier in the day when I filled out a survey for the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the US about how I felt on dividing the Hound Group into Sight or Scent Hounds and where RRs would best fit. It dawned on me that Ridgebacks should be in their own category - Snack Hounds!

About This Blog

Originally, this was a place to tell you my news. Then I got a new camera and it became a way to see how we live here at Kalahari Rhodesian Ridgebacks - the fun things, the everyday things and even the humdrum things.

It's just home. I'm glad you stopped by and come again!
