RRCUS National Specialty 2010

The 2010 Specialty is over and done and it was AWESOME!

The Show committee chairman, Clayton Heathcock, and his co-chair, Cynthia Cartwright, each event chair and their tireless helpers have set a new standard. Anyone who has ever been on a show committee would be duly impressed. It's hard, exacting, exhausting in it's details and execution to put on one show, much less a multi-event show over 7 days.

Lure coursing, agility, obedience, rally, sweepstakes, conformation PLUS all the seminars, dinners, meetings, organizing the arrival and departures of judges and presenters takes planning to the minute detail.

Ladies and gentlemen of the committee - I applaud you!

My part of the show began early on Wednesday. I did get up extra early and run out on to the boardwalk to take some photos of the scene. The beach in front of the hotel is dog friendly and a surfer's beach. I could not resist photos of Ridgebacks and surfers together.

The stately palms on the plaza outside the hotel.

The surfers were out before the birds were up. ( Note the sleepy bird on top of the light pole.)

Looking toward the pier to the left.

Catching a wave.

Paddling out.

Looking along the boardwalk to the right and towards the fairgrounds.

Lots of walkers even at this early hour.

Ridgebackers taking their dogs for a morning walk.

Some surfers used paddles..

From my balcony, a surfer rides the waves at the point.

About This Blog

Originally, this was a place to tell you my news. Then I got a new camera and it became a way to see how we live here at Kalahari Rhodesian Ridgebacks - the fun things, the everyday things and even the humdrum things.

It's just home. I'm glad you stopped by and come again!
