The Audience

While I was out photographing the cherry tree, I happened to look back and catch the hounds watching from the patio...Oz squinting into the bright sun.

Puppies!

These babies are from Rocket - my choice for Best of Breed at the RRCUS Specialty show in Ventura, CA. There are still a few not spoken for, so jump on it!

Arroyo Seco Rhodesian Ridgebacks announces the birth of an amazing 10 puppy litter whelped one week ago. Mama Rocket (NBISS GCH Arroyo Seco's Race Across America) and daddy Duxie (CH Ridge View's Dux Double Trouble) are very proud of these babies (only 5 are shown in the picture - first shift is nursing now). 7 girls, 3 boys, all ridged (likely 5 or 6 show quality ridges), no kinked tails, no discernible dermoids, palates all good and very little white. Inquiries accepted - srglasser@gmail.com. With many thanks - Sara, Steve Glasser and Rocket

Sand, Sea and Sky

The gang and I rode over to visit with Gail and Bill on Friday. Right away they found something stinky on the beach to roll in! Dead catfish. We played in the water a bit and got the smelliest parts off, got tipped out of the kayak, and, in general, had a good time.

Still wet from my dunking, we went out on the dock. Narrow, so follow the leader works well.

Then a shower moved in, obscuring the boundary between sky and sea.

Four By Two

Ms Prize came in season and Bill and Gail agreed to keep her a week, during the worst part.

Gail and Prize sitting on the pier. Two cute redheads!

Loved the shot of these 4 pelicans that took off from the pier next door, heading up the bay.

Pelicans and Pups

The 300 ft dog walk! We decided to go out to the boat dock. Oz and Darla were old hands at this. Prize wasn't, but she wasn't going to be left either, so despite the height and wobbly boards,3 dogs went with us.

Bill's dolphin. Looks 3 D doesn't it? It's a piece of plywood with an artist's touch.

Looking back at the house. That's Bill on the top deck doing a different kind of painting - house painting.

My brave boys - Guy and Magic were afraid to follow us out. Guy went down to the beach and thought about swimming out, but gave up. Magic went and hid in the van.

A pelican begins his go around climb.

The beginning plunge.
Just before hitting the water.

Well, look who's creeping out to join us.

Creep, creep, raise up and look over at the water. Crouch and creep. Keep coming, Guy!

Almost there. Poor Guy, if this doesn't cure his being scared of the dog walk, I don't know what will.

Oh, no! gotta go all the way back!

Supper?

Long Trip!

Three of my dogs went with Liz and me to Lawrence, KS to pick up her new pup. Along the way we did get out and go for walks...like here at Peaceable Kingdom, where Liz works. Lots of fields to run around and great smells for the dogs.

Little Puma went too, although not brave enough to get too far from us.

Back at the cabin we stayed at, the dogs loved drinking from the pond..

...and cooling off their bellies.

Late evening silhouettes.

Puma thought that looked like fun - until she stepped in the water and didn't know what that cold stuff was!

Guy didn't mind at all... regular duck he was.... :-)

Hogs, deer, bobcat and who knows what else...makes for an interesting romp in the fields.

About This Blog

Originally, this was a place to tell you my news. Then I got a new camera and it became a way to see how we live here at Kalahari Rhodesian Ridgebacks - the fun things, the everyday things and even the humdrum things.

It's just home. I'm glad you stopped by and come again!
